Dublin Butcher Wins Best Beef Ribs in Ireland. The Scarlet Heifer wins Supreme Champion in this year’s Craft Butchers National BBQ Competition.

What better way to enjoy the summer than by gathering family and friends for an impromptu “al fresco” get-together and who knows better than Michael Collins who recently scooped the Supreme BBQ Champion title for his Dry Aged Angus Beef Ribs at this years Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland (ACBI) National BBQ Competition.

Collins, of The Scarlet Heifer in Leopardstown Shopping Centre, Foxrock Village, The Square Tallaght and O’Coileain Butchers in The Market, Belarmine, Stepaside is a multi-award winning butcher who recently won Gold for his Steak Burger with Sundried Tomato and Feta Cheese, Silver for his Executive Angus Steak Burger, Bronze for his Steak Burger with Clonakilty Black Pudding and Gubeen Bacon, Baby Back Ribs and Chicken Wings.

The competition which has been running for over 11 years had over 70 entries this year and Lester Manley (Head Judge, and Founder of Trailblazer BBQ) was extremely impressed by the flavours and most of all with the quality of The Scarlet Heifer’s meat describing the ribs as “a mouth-watering piece of meat, tender juicy melt in the mouth beef ribs”.

The Scarlet Heifer is a family business spanning three generation with over 60 years of experience in the food industry. They use their own beef and lamb as well as produce from select partnered producers so can guarantee the best quality product to be full of flavour and taste every time. With a wide range of BBQ products in all their shops, The Scarlet Heifer goes to great lengths to bring their customers exacting standards and the best in quality produce all year round.

One of the first in Dublin to be awarded Certified Craft Butcher status by ACBI, the business has, over the past 5 years, won several Gold Medal Awards for BBQ products, sausages and speciality foods. It is also the beef supplier to the highly acclaimed “Beeftro” restaurants, renowned for their succulent steak and meat dishes in Dundrum and Balfe Street, owned by John Collins, the brother of Michael and the co-owner of The Scarlet Heifer.

Come rain or shine barbecue season is well under way and The Scarlet Heifer Butchers will fuel the grill with select cuts and tasty barbecue meats this summer.
