Ireland’s First Cat Café

The Crazy Cat Cafe, Ireland’s first Cat Café where visitors can enjoy tea, coffee and cake and play with cats who roam around freely, hopes to open its doors in September.

Georgina O’Neill is the woman behind the Crazy Cat Café.  Since launching its Facebook page last September, the Crazy Cat Cafe has gotten more than 2440 likes and looks set to join the ranks of many other cat cafes around the world, including those in London, Vienna and Amsterdam.

The cats, who will be restricted to designated areas away from food storage, preparation and serving areas, will live in the Cafe, where they will be free to climb the walls, lay on a grassy patch or chill out on a beanbag. The Cafe will be working with a local cat rescue charity to only bring suitable cats into the café.

To help finance the venture, Georgina has started a crowd funding campaign to cover the cost of renting suitable premises, furnishing and decorating the café, hiring and training staff, and paying for the cats’ toys, food, health checks and vaccinations
