We have put together our top tips on storing food. Some foods should not be stored in the fridge as they can spoil quicker. We have put together our top tips for you to store  food for longer and to reduce any food waste. Here are our top 11 foods you should not store in your fridge:
Bananas
Fruits such as bananas, kiwi, apricots, peaches, plums and mangoes are best stored in cool dry places to ripen naturally and retain nutrients.
Basil
This herb absorbs the smells of all foods in a fridge and it will wilt and dry if left there. Store in a fresh jar of cool water instead.
Bread
Bread will harden, dry out and become stale-like so store in a bread bin. You can, however, freeze bread successfully.
Coffee
Fresh or ground coffee beans lose their flavour if stored in the fridge.
It will sprout and become soggy so store in a cool dry place.
Honey
As with olive oil, it will harden just like butter.
Olive Oil
It will condense into a hard butter type consistency so best to leave in a cool dark press.
Onions
Because of the moist conditions in the fridge onions will turn soft and eventually go mouldy so store in a cook dry press or cupboard and never store them close to potatoes as they will cause them to rot.
Potatoes
The cold of the fridge turns the starch contained in potatoes into sugar making them gritty.
Tomatoes
They lose flavour when stored in the fridge which prevents the ripening process as well as changing the natural texture.

Whole Melons
Melons lose some of the lycopene and beta-carotene antioxidant content when stored in the first and are prone to degradation.
