Sweet & Savoury Sausage Rolls These sausage rolls are deliciously crumbly when enjoyed straight from the oven, but they can also be eaten cold, making them a convenient and transportable picnic option. Sausage meat can sometimes be difficult to source, so any sausage of choice can be used in place of the sausage meat, just simply remove the casing from the sausages before adding them to the mixture. The scallion, carrot, and apple also make for a delicious and nutritious addition to these tasty little pies. When transporting these rolls for a picnic, ensure you pack them into a container alongside some icepacks to keep them properly cool while travelling. Created by Nessa Robins

Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 2 scallions
- 1 small carrot
- 1 small apple
- 450g sausage meat
- 1 egg
- 1tbsp sesame seeds
Method
- 1. Take the puff pastry from the fridge 30 minutes before using. Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C/Gas Mark 6.

- 4. Using a sharp knife, cut each strip into five and place on a greaseproof paper-lined baking tray.
- 5. Whisk the egg together with a little water to make a glaze and brush over the top of the sausage rolls before sprinkling over the sesame seeds.
- 6. Place in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until golden in colour and cooked through. These sausage rolls are best enjoyed on the day they are made or refrigerate in a sealed container to enjoy cold the next day.
