3 Baking Blunders…

And how to fix them! Here’s three easy ways to fix your baking blunders….
The problem:
My sponge has sank in the middle!!!
The solution:
There are two reasons for this happening; either you have used too much raising agent, and the cake has collapsed, or you opened the oven door during the cooking process. Keeping an even oven temperature is essential while cooking a sponge, so keep that door tightly shut!
The problem:
The recipe says to use softened butter, but mine is rock hard
The solution:
You can either chop the butter into small cubes and blast it in the microwave for 10 seconds to soften it, or pop the chunks into your cake mixer and whizz at high speed until the butter is light and soft.
The problem:
My cookies have spread all over the baking sheet.
The solution:
Your mix probably has too much sugar. Try reducing it by a heaped tablespoon. Also, chilling cookie dough in the fridge before baking can help to avoid the dreaded spread.
