Bewley’s to Close

Bewley’s is planning to temporarily close its iconic Grafton Street Café for renovation in a move that could see the 140 staff at the establishment made redundant.
It said that the Grafton Street Café has huge operating costs because of its layout over a number of floors, as well as what it described as “an excessive annual rent of €1.5 million which is a legacy of the unsustainable Irish property bubble.”
The newly refurbished Café will have a simplified focus on the ground floor and basement.
