The 21st Irish Food Writer’s Guild (IFWG) Awards took place this week at L’Ecrivain in Dublin, and once again showcased the best of Irish produce, as chosen by the country’s top food writers. Winners included On the Pig’s Back, Isabelle Sheridan’s range of pates, terrines and rillettes made in Douglas, Co Cork, Skeaghanore Farm Fresh Ducks, produced by Eugene and Helena Hickey in West Cork and Wild About preserves. Siobhan and Paul Lawless of The Foods of Athenry were heralded with the environmental award for the steps they have taken in the production process for their range of free-from foods. Brigitta Curtin of Burren Smokehouse was awarded the lifetime achievement award for her tireless work to promote Irish food.
