Cinnamon Shortbread Stars

Decorate them as you like, this is a great basic recipe for any kind of shortbread.

Ingredients

  • 250g plain white flour
  • 175g butter
  • grated rind 1 orange
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 75g caster sugar
  • 2 tsp icing sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Place the flour and butter into a bowl and rub together until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the remaining ingredients with 2 teaspoons of cold water and combine to form a ball.
  2. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 2.5mm. Using a 2cm star cutter, cut out approximately 80 stars.
  3. Place the stars on baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden. Mix together the icing sugar and cinnamon and dust a little over the biscuits.
