Bord na Móna Growise sponsors Bloom for the 11th consecutive year and this year’s festival will feature a #LoveYourGarden zone, located in the renowned Show Garden space with a spectacular viewing platform taking in the entire Bloom Festival in Phoenix Park.
#LoveYourGarden ambassadors, Grow Your Own foodie Lilly Higgins and horticultural encyclopaedia Peter Dowdall will take to the Main Stage for an interactive demo offering handy hints and tips on everything from the best ways to enjoy the fruits (and vegetables!) of your labour and making the most out of your green space from creating the perfect summer window boxes and hanging baskets and keeping them in bloom throughout the summer!
Here’s a Tomato Salsa recipe from Lilly Higgins, perfect for barbeques, salad bowls, serving as part of a Mexican feast or just with a bowl of tortilla chips.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 ripe home-grown tomatoes
- 1 green/red chilli
- 1 bunch coriander
- 2 spring onions
- Juice of 1 lime
- Sea salt
- A splash of olive oil
Finely dice the tomatoes. Chop the coriander leaves and stalk finely. Chop the spring onion finely. Place everything in a wide bowl. De-seed the chilli and chop finely. Add to the bowl along with the lime juice and olive oil. Mix well and season to taste. Leave for half an hour at least so the flavours can develop further.
