24th January – 10th February: Dublin Chinese New Year Festival
Location: Various venues across Dublin
The year of the rat is all about is discovery and exploration. So during this year’s Dublin Chinese New Year Festival why not go forth and discover new places to eat and explore new flavours and dishes. There are loads of food and drink events taking place across the city.
1st – 2nd February: Chinese New Year Food Extravaganza
Location: Asia Food Market Drury Street and Ballymount, Dublin
Across the weekend, the Asia Market in Drury Street store, as well as the Ballymount branch are having a free tasting event. Stands with samples will highlight the flavours from China, Malaysia, Thailand, Korea and many more. Time to get those tastebuds tingling.
8th February: Chinese New Year Cocktails with Chinnery Gin
Location: A secret location in Dublin
Join Chinnery Gin and The Little Pig in a speakeasy on February 8th to celebrate Chinese New Year. The evening will be a tasting of cocktails inspired by China. Mixologist Pat Thomas will lead you on a discovery of flavours from China, including Chinnery Gin’s signature botanicals, oolong tea and osmanthus flower. A must for gin lovers. Tickets cost €43.55 and include two drinks made with Chinnery Gin, as well as taster cocktails from The Little Pig’s specially created Chinese New Year menu and a Chinnery Gin tasting session with the distiller.
14th February: Sligo Food Tours Valentine’s Day Special
Location: Various venues around Sligo town
During this special tour, you can except some aphrodisiacs and plenty of surprises as you make your way around some of the best places to eat and drink in Sligo town. You do not have to be loved- or coupled-up to join the tour but you never know what cupid might have in store. On a Sligo Food Tour, you’ll get a chance to meet the people behind Sligo food and hear all about where the food comes from and how it is produced. Tickets cost €65 and the tour will visit eight to nine different food businesses.
29th February – 1st March 2020: Thrive Festival
Location: Convention Centre, Dublin
The Thrive Festival is billed as “Ireland’s most dynamic fitness, lifestyle and wellness event”. Now in its second year, the two-day event brings together the best boutique studios, wellness coaches, chefs and a lot more besides. Not only will you be able to attend talks but you can get active too with fitness classes, wellness workshops and cookery demos. This is the ultimate fitness and wellness experience under one roof. There’s also a large marketplace with delicious food and drink for sale as well as tastings and experiences. Sinéad Delahunty, Jeeny Maltese, Holly White, Daniel Davey, Conor Spacey and Erica Drum are just some of the well-known names giving food-related talks and demos.
