Having grown up on a working farm Catherine knows all too well the taste of home and the theme of the new TV series is one that she holds close to her heart.

But first she needs six applicants to join her on this exciting new format TV series which will see Catherine selecting six families to join her on a mission to establish a meal that “Tastes like Home” and to bring these tastes across the globe.

“I am used to replicating dishes that have been passed down through the generations for our visitors here at Ballyknocken House & Cookery School and I look forward to seeing what dishes people think taste like home for them,” says Catherine who will take a traditional TV cooking show and add a dash of travel, a large dollop of family stories to combine a unique set of flavours to create her brand new TV show ‘Tastes like Home’.

Along with the sponsor, Londis, Catherine is looking for what is the unmistakeable taste of home to your friend or relation. We all know recipes are much more than mixing ingredients in a bowl, they are traditions handed down through the generations that evoke memories.

“It’s funny how a recipe represents a family, a place and a time, a tradition is simply a sense of togetherness,” she says. “Taste is the most evocative of all senses and can transport us back to our childhoods, to a memorable meal or special moment in time and I have no doubt this show is really going to resonate and connect with the viewers from the outset”.

Tastes like Home is more than a food show, this is a format that will strike a chord with every Irish family and take you on a whistle-stop tour of your loved one’s home away from home. So if you have a friend or relative living abroad that you know misses that quintessential taste of home and has an all-time favourite recipe then now is the time to share it.

All you have to do is submit your application with three family favourite recipes and we will recruit six families from across the country, who will show Catherine how to make their Tastes like Home dish. On selection Catherine will visit the family here before jetting off to Chicago, Riga or Frankfurt where Catherine will recreate the dish to be enjoyed with new friends or perhaps the family living abroad.

You can pick up an application form from your local Londis store, complete the form and return to your Londis store or you can pop it in the post to: Tastes Like Home TV Show, C/O Another Avenue, 14 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. You can also apply on line at www.londis.ie or www.tasteslikehome.ie
