Christmas Puddings at Sophia

Christmas puddings are made to order at Sophia Housing’s Cork Street coffee shop kitchen by Community Employment (CE) staff under the direction of Head Chef Trevor Kearns. The recipe is Trevor’s mother’s own recipe and has been used in all the hotels he has worked in over the years including Carton House, The Clarence, The Westbury, Quinta do Lago (Portugal) and The Blue Haven Kinsale, to great reviews. He has now taken the recipe with him to Sophia and is producing and selling them with all proceeds going to Sophia Housing.

They are 1lb in weight, wrapped in muslin and presented with a ribbon, and cost only €14.95, with all proceeds going to Sophia Housing.  Call Sophia Café at 01-4738300 to order a Christmas pudding now!

Sophia works with vulnerable families and individuals who, for any number of reasons, find themselves out of their own home.  Sophia provides accommodation and works with people to help them acquire the skills to deal with they everyday issues that may have caused them to be homeless in the first place.

Sophia’s coffee shop offers nutritious and tasty food for residents and staff, and provides catering services to groups attending the on-site Wisdom Centre conference facilities. All produce is made fresh daily; such as soups, fresh homemade scones, yeast breads, other pastry products and sandwiches. Not only do customers and residents benefit from fresh products made from scratch but it also enables Sophia to provide first class catering experience to CE staff who will then move on into full time employment with the experience and skills they have learned.
