Your Daily Bread

The National Brown Bread Baking Competition was last held in 1973, and is now back! Sponsored by Aldi and in association with the Irish Countrywomen’s Association and the National Ploughing Association. Judges Edward Hayden from TV3, Eileen Brennan from NPA and Laura McHale from Aldi chose 8 finalists who will meet in the finals at the Aldi tent at the National Ploughing Championships on the 23rd and the 24th of September. One winner will be picked from each day, and they will go head-to-head in the final on the 25th of September.
The 8 finalists are Bernadette Daly (Limerick), Margaret Jennings (Mayo), Statia Ivers (Wicklow), Tina Boulton (Kerry) Betty Williams (Tipp South), Pauline Carney (Monaghan), Margaret Kelly (Westmeath) and Patsy Kenny (Galway)”
