Flavours of Fingal

Tue Jun 23 2015

Taste Buds at the Ready for the Return of the Flavours of Fingal County Show 2015.

The 2015 Flavours of Fingal County Show, now in its fourth year and launched by model and animal lover Thalia Heffernan at Newbridge House and Farm, Donabate, Co Dublin.  The two day county shows takes place on the 27th and 28th of June, just twenty minutes from Dublin.

The Fingal area boasts the finest fresh food produce in the entire country; the area produces over a third of the country’s fruits, vegetables and potatoes.  The establishment of the Flavours of Fingal County Show in recent years has unveiled the food credentials of the area amongst the wider public.

The food village will again take centre stage in the historic walled garden of Newbridge House.  There you’ll find a vibrant food market brimmed with a mix of food stalls featuring good food in abundance from the Fingal area.  This year, the event will play host to forty additional artisan producers offering even more tasty treats.

Cookery demonstrations will also be in full swing featuring some of Ireland’s top chefs creating delicious delicacies using local produce.  This year, Flavours will be hosting the semi-finalists of the inaugural All Ireland Craft Butchers Home Cook 2015 competition and attendees will have an opportunity to witness the art of sausage making first hand, taste the handmade sausages and pudding and vote for your favourite!

No county show would be complete without a showcase of Ireland’s most groomed cows.  The livestock competition at the Flavours of Fingal County Show makes for a fascinating insight into what still is a highly competitive arena.  In addition to livestock and sheep competitions, attendees are invited to take in equestrian contests as well as sheepdog trials.   Flavours is also the ultimate day out welcoming young and old and and little ones are welcome to bring along their pooch for the day.

Machine lovers are also in for a special treat this year.  The Fingal Vintage Society will be onsite for what promises to be a spectacular display of vintage farming machinery to add some glamour to the county show.

The Flavours of Fingal County Show is brought to you by Fingal County Council, Fingal Farmers, Fingal Tourism and Newbridge House and Farm. Tickets cost €10 for one day adult admission including two kids for free and €7.50 for concession entry.  Parking is free and the event is well equipped with facilities for the disabled.
