M&S New Sourdough Crumpet

M&S have created a new sourdough crumpet for 2015. The addition of a sourdough starter gives these new crumpets a deliciously full flavour with a very mild sour tang. The mix of flours has also been carefully selected by M&S’s bakery expert Jenny Galletly to ensure the texture is just right. The retailer supplier has even got a new piece of equipment which replicates the traditional griddle-bake method used for crumpets, but on a much larger scale – ensuring a perfectly baked crumpet for customers. Product developer Jenny Galletly says: “We know our customers love nothing more than a hot, buttered crumpet, especially during the winter months and we wanted to create an ultimate version for fans.  The addition of sourdough has helped create a unique product with real depth of flavour, whilst still retaining all the best parts of the classic crumpet.” On sale now, priced €1.49 for 6 (330g)
