Super Miss Sue

Thu Oct 15 2015

Super Miss Sue brunch menu is the perfect cure. A chilled out and relaxed brunch that starts at 11 a.m. (eleven bells is the new brunch o’clock), the weekend brunch menu is home to some safe, comforting classics and some big, flavour-bombing leftfield heroes, inspired by the best of brunch across the pond and cleverly tailored by chef Karl Whelan, just for you. Top of this list are two new dishes and one gentle giant, unique to SMS – the only place to try these soon-to-be-classics in Dublin.

Combining the spicy flavours of a Bloody Mary with the restorative superpowers of baked eggs, the new Bloody Mary Eggs in SMS is a three-egg dish baked in a naughtily saucy Bloody Mary tomato mixture, served with a celery salad and croutons. A fillingly high protein, appealingly low calorie taste explosion, Bloody Mary Eggs at SMS hit the reset button on the tastebuds in an intensely satisfying way.

Channelling the classic Roman pasta dish of Cacio e Pepe – cheese and pepper –the new Cacio e Pepe Eggs on the brunch menu at Super Miss Sue is a set of meltingly scrambled eggs heavily peppered and with a massive umami hit of salty pecorino. Served with shattering shards of crispbread, perfect for shovelling up the softly scrambled curds, Scrambled Eggs ‘Cacio e Pepe’ at SMS is breakfast-finessing at its best.

Heavy night out? The third new dish may be what you’re looking for. The Cure is a single lavish platter for a pair of brunch-going seafood lovers. Two of Sue’s signature Bloody Marys pack just enough spice and boozy kick to set you straight, and they’re garnished with a prawn, quail egg, olive and pickle to reacquaint you with the world of solid foods. Two beers provide the lubrication for devilled eggs, fresh oysters, crab claws, jumbo shrimp, mussels, clams, crudités and a range of condiments, all over ice.

With an endless cup of coffee just €3 –or rather, unlimited damn fine cups of coffee, as they put it themselves – brunch at SMS will set you up for the weekend (or put your weekend to rights should it have been slightly derailed at any point).

Putting yourself entirely in Super Miss Sue’s capable hands with a fantastic selection of drinks, including well-built nice and spicy Bloody Marys, and plenty of fizzy options and fresh juices, along with a menu full of outrageously tasty food, brunch at SMS is served from 11 to 4 on Saturdays and Sundays.
