Tesco Removes Sweets At Tills
Mon Jan 12 2015

Parents rejoice the country over as Tesco removes sweets at tills and child eye-level this month. This is wonderful news for anyone who has had to play catch-the-kinder-egg while trying to do a healthy weekly shop. Tesco spokespeople have said that they are responding to the clear desire of their customers to remove these temptations from the store, and are happy to be introducing what they call a Healthy Initative. Last May, Christine Heffernan from Tesco said “since we announced our commitment to removing sweets and chocolates from our checkouts in May we have been trialling healthy snacks to replace sweets at the checkouts.” Whatever they call it, there is no doubt in our mind that this will make shopping with little people easier, and for families trying to follow a healthy diet. They are not the first supermarket to introduce an initiative like this; last year Lidl announced that it would be removing all sweets from the tills, in favour of healthier treats. Lets hope this is the start of a country-wide movement to remove sweets and chocolate from the tiny hands of our children, and encourage us all to choose a healthier snack option.
