Baking soda (aka bicarbonate of soda) is a staple in most households especially for home bakers. But we have picked our top 5 weird uses for baking soda:
5. Carpet Cleaner
You can use baking soda to clean your carpet simply sprinkle baking soda over your carpet, leave for 15 minutes and hoover it up.
4. Insect bite
This is the perfect natural remedy to relive an itch from an insect bite. Combine 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1/2 tablespoon of warm water to make a paste and then rub over the insect bite.
3. Exfoliator
Try a natural, eco-friendly exfoliator. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoons of warm water and 1 tablespoon of oat bran. Rinse your face with water and apply the paste. Allow the paste to dry and then remove with a damn facecloth, then pat dry.
2. Cleaning the oven
We all hate cleaning the oven but here is a brilliant odour and chemical free way to clean your oven. Simply sprinkle baking soda over the bottom of the oven in places with tougher stains add a little more. Then sprinkle or drizzle water over the baking soda and leave over night. Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 1.5 tablespoons of water to make a paste. Then simply brush your teeth. You can make more and store it in a glass airtight container.
