Introduction

A traditional Irish recipe made on Halloween.

Ingredients

  • 150g sultanas
  • 150g currents
  • 150g raisins
  • 200g brown sugar
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • 1 tsp mixed spice
  • 1 cup tea
  • 225g self-raising flour
  • 1 egg beaten

Method

  • 1. Soak the dried fruits in the cup of tea over night.
  • 2. Pre-heat the oven to 180C
  • 3. Add the fruit and tea to the flour , brown sugar, cloves and mixed spice then the egg and beat until the dried fruit is spread throughout the mix.
  • 4. Pour into a lined loaf tin or rounded cake tin.
  • 5. Cook in the oven for 90 minutes, when a skewer comes out clean you will know it is cooked.
