So called because of it’s imperial measurements, this is an all in one sponge mixture that is very handy to have in your repertoire.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 125g butter, softened
  • 175g sugar
  • 225g self raising flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas mark 6.
  2. In a bowl, beat together the ingredients to form a smooth cake batter.
  3. Pour into a greased 20cm round cake tin and bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
