Ingredients

  • 200g self raising flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50g rapeseed oil
  • 50g sugar
  • 100ml buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • Zest of 1 orange

Method

  • 1. Preheat oven to 200°C
  • 2. Sieve the Flour, baking powder and mix together in a bowl.
  • 3. Make a well in centre of flour and add the sugar and mix.
  • 4. Freshly zest an orange and mix with flour.
  • 5. Add the Oil to the buttermilk and mix lightly.
  • 6. Turn dough out on to floured table and lightly pat then cut 8 round scones and place on floured baking tray.
  • 7. Brush with a beaten egg prior to baking.
