Introduction

Traditionally served streetside in Greece, take the holiday home with you by serving this yummy kebab to the family tonight.

Ingredients

  • 400g lean lamb steak, sliced
  • 1 onion, peeled and sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ ground cinnamon
  • TO SERVE:
  • Pitta Bread
  • Iceberg lettuce, shredded
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Tzatziki

Method

  • 1. Put the onion, garlic and olive oil in a food processor and blitz until blended to a paste. Add the cumin, coriander, paprika and cinnamon and pulse to combine.
  • 2. Spread the paste over the lamb steaks and toss well to combine. Cover and refrigerate for half an hour or overnight if possible.
  • 3. Heat a frying pan to high and fry the lamb in batches, ensuring that it browns and caramelises on all sides. Alternatively cook on a BBQ.
  • 4. Stuff the lamb in toasted pitta pockets with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki.
