Introduction

A classic pizza recipe. You can have fun and add any toppings you wish

Ingredients

  • 15g dried yeast
  • 250ml warm water
  • 350g strong white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • TOMATO SAUCE:
  • 400ml tomato passata
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 tsp oregano (or any dried herbs)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 200g grated mozzarella
  • 8 cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)

Method

  • 1. <h5>To make the dough:<h5>
  • 2. Put the yeast, sugar and 50ml of water into bowl. leave to one side for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • 3. In a separate bowl add flour and create a well in the middle. Add the yeast mix along with oil, salt and the rest of the water.
  • 4. Mix together using a spoon. Leave the bowl to one side covered by a towl and leave for 30 minutes.
  • 5. Remove the dough and knead for 4 minutes making sure to stretch the dough. Flatten into a pizza base folding the edges slightly.
  • 6. Alternatively you if you are in a rush you can buy pre-pack bases.
  • 7. Mix tomato passata, garlic, tomato puree, olive oil, dried herbs, salt and pepper together and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
  • 8. Spread on the base and cover with grated mozzarella and chopped baby tomatoes.
  • 9. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6.
  • 10. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
