Introduction
A classic pizza recipe. You can have fun and add any toppings you wish
Ingredients
- 15g dried yeast
- 250ml warm water
- 350g strong white flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sugar
- 400ml tomato passata
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 2 tbsp tomato puree
- 2 tsp oregano (or any dried herbs)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- salt and pepper
- 200g grated mozzarella
- 8 cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)
TOMATO SAUCE:
Method
- 1. <h5>To make the dough:<h5>
- 2. Put the yeast, sugar and 50ml of water into bowl. leave to one side for 5 minutes until frothy.
- 3. In a separate bowl add flour and create a well in the middle. Add the yeast mix along with oil, salt and the rest of the water.
- 4. Mix together using a spoon. Leave the bowl to one side covered by a towl and leave for 30 minutes.
- 5. Remove the dough and knead for 4 minutes making sure to stretch the dough. Flatten into a pizza base folding the edges slightly.
- 6. Alternatively you if you are in a rush you can buy pre-pack bases.
- 7. Mix tomato passata, garlic, tomato puree, olive oil, dried herbs, salt and pepper together and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
- 8. Spread on the base and cover with grated mozzarella and chopped baby tomatoes.
- 9. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6.
- 10. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
