A classic pizza recipe. You can have fun and add any toppings you wish

Ingredients

  • 15g dried yeast
  • 250ml warm water
  • 350g strong white flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Tomato sauce:
  • 400ml tomato passata
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 2 tsp oregano (or any dried herbs)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 200g grated mozzarella
  • 8 cherry tomatoes, halved (optional)

Instructions

  1. To make the dough:
  2. Put the yeast, sugar and 50ml of water into bowl. leave to one side for 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. In a separate bowl add flour and create a well in the middle. Add the yeast mix along with oil, salt and the rest of the water.
  4. Mix together using a spoon. Leave the bowl to one side covered by a towl and leave for 30 minutes.
  5. Remove the dough and knead for 4 minutes making sure to stretch the dough. Flatten into a pizza base folding the edges slightly.
  6. Alternatively you if you are in a rush you can buy pre-pack bases.
  7. Mix tomato passata, garlic, tomato puree, olive oil, dried herbs, salt and pepper together and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
  8. Spread on the base and cover with grated mozzarella and chopped baby tomatoes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F/gas mark 6.
  10. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until golden and bubbling.
